This lecture will help you to mix killer pop vocals that CUT through the mix, much like Michael Jackson's thin vocal style pioneered by Bruce Swedien. Follow along if you like, but remember to mix with your ears! Don't copy my moves exactly. Instead, try to hear what I do and see if you can hear why I do certain things.

The song used in this lecture is called "Falling" by my band Motion Coaster. There are quite a few more stems you have to work with for this lesson; 15 tracks, including one completely mixed/mastered version of the song.

Be as creative as you would like! Take a similar approach to what I did, or do something completely different. Reference the final master, but don't be afraid to get experimental. Listen to the music, and do what it tells you to do.
